We are seeking a Project Manager to support our Genomic AI Network
Artificial Intelligence combined with genomics, offers exciting opportunities to speed up diagnoses, further personalise treatments and release valuable staff time.
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to drive our national Genomics AI Network. Working alongside our Network Director and Clinical Lead, we are building a community focused on the use of AI in genomics, delivering exemplar programmes which aim to better identify individuals with genomic conditions.
Grade: Band 7
Commitment: Full time
Tenure: Fixed term contract until March 31st 2026, with possibility of extension subject to NHSE funding
Base: You’ll be based at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital but the role is hybrid. Travel may be required at times.
Responsible to the AI Genomic Network Director

Grade: Dependent on current grade

This role presents an exciting opportunity for Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians working in the South East region to enhance the delivery of pharmacogenomics, precision medicine and pharmacy workforce development initiatives.
The NHS South East Genomic Medicine Service (SE GMS) is responsible for delivering the Genomic Medicine Service across the South East which includes South London, Kent, Surrey & Sussex serving 8.5 million people. At the heart of the SE GMS is a strong ethos of embracing genomic technology and innovation to deliver faster diagnoses, prevention, and more personalised treatments for patients. Strategic medicines related priorities for the SE GMS include:
- Implementation and evaluation of pharmacogenomic testing within prescribing pathways.
- Equity of patient access to personalised treatments.
- Pharmacy genomics workforce and education development.
The role of a pharmacy genomics intern will involve:
- Supporting genomics awareness raising, education and communication activity across the South East.
- Supporting regional level service improvement projects in pharmacogenomics and/or precision medicine. This may include mapping patient pathways, analysis of data, engagement with clinicians, developing supporting resources and dissemination of best practice guidance.
- Networking with other pharmacy genomics interns and subject matter experts.
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues across the SE GMS including communications, informatics, project management, education, clinical leadership, and nursing teams.
What’s the commitment?
The role of a pharmacy genomics intern will fit into 1-2 days per week, the duration for the post is currently until 31st March 2025 due to the funding cycle of the GMSA. The days of work / working pattern will be agreed between the individual, and the SE GMS pharmacy leadership team.
A pharmacy genomics intern will be expected to work independently and remotely with the occasional travel to locations across the South East. The SE GMS is a dynamic team and mainly collaborates virtually using Microsoft teams.
The SE GMS will not directly employ the intern but will have a memorandum of understanding with their employer and provide funding to cover intern salary costs at the corresponding NHS spine point. The applicant must be working for an NHS employer within the South East GMSA geography and will remain employed with their substantive employer for the duration of this role.
