Get ready for changes to the cardiac genetic testing pathway with an introduction to cardiovascular genomics.

The genomic testing pathway for inherited cardiac conditions is changing.

From 1 April, Clinical Genetics will no longer accept referrals for diagnostic genomic testing for inherited cardiac conditions. Cardiac teams will now be responsible for arranging genomic testing directly for their patients.

To support this transition, we are launching a series of education sessions for colleagues working in cardiology across the South East of England, including South London, Medway, Kent, Sussex and Surrey.

These sessions are designed for:

  • Doctors

  • Nurses

  • Allied Health Professionals

  • Administrative staff

Whether you are new to genomics or looking to build confidence in the updated pathway, these sessions will provide practical guidance on arranging accurate and timely genetic testing for patients.

Session 1: Introduction to Genomics

This is the first of three sessions and will provide a clear, accessible introduction to genomics and its role in inherited cardiac conditions.

Future sessions will focus on:

  • Cardiomyopathies

  • Inherited arrhythmias

  • Aortopathies

All sessions are free and open to NHS colleagues from across the South East who would like to strengthen their understanding of genomics in cardiology practice.

If you are part of a cardiac team, or support one, this is directly relevant to you.

Join us and sign up for the event to ensure you are prepared for the new pathway. Please share with your cardiac colleagues.
