Nurses & Midwives

The use of genomics within the NHS is expanding rapidly across all specialties and it is vital that all nurses and midwives have the skills and knowledge to use genomics in their area of practice.

Undertaking training in genomics and having skills and knowledge appropriate to your role is a requirement to fulfil the Nursing and Midwifery Proficency Standards set out by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Here are a few examples of why genomics is important to nurses & midwives.

We have a friendly network of Nurses and Midwives who help champion and spread the benefits of genomics within their Trust.

We work with them, and their Chief Nurses & Directors of Midwifery, to support education and training in genomics.

We meet online on a quarterly basis. All ambassadors have access to learning, research, networking and leadership opportunities, involvement in transformation projects and writing groups for peer-reviewed publications.
