Scientists can now ‘read’ our genes. But do we really know which illness could affect us?
The South London Genomic Medicine Centre is holding a Public and Patient Engagement Event focused on Genomics. Come and hear from experts and patients who chose to find out.
The evening will involve:
- An introduction to genomics delivered by Dr Kate Tatton-Brown (consultant in clinical genetics at St George’s Hospital)
- Special guest speaker, Simon Gillespie (British Heart Foundation chief executive) will share his motivation for joining the 100,000 Genomes Project
- An open session with interactive stands – information on the 100,000 Genomes Project, basic DNA testing using smell and taste, boardgames and more.
- A talk and debate on ethics and genomics
Refreshments will be provided.
